Chipping In: Mark Koenig

Mark Koenig is the latest recipient of our Chipping In award which aims to recognize individuals who have significantly contributed to the club. Mark can be seen during our meetings at the controls of the AV system he architected which gives us those close up views and overhead shots of the action during our demos. He also spends a lot of time before and after the meetings setting up, and later editing the videos for our archives. Mark has done numerous demos for us, he spearheaded our recent Beads of Courage Box donation effort, and he's always willing to share his detailed wood turning knowledge and mentoring advice. Mark has also helped build our good relationship with Maker Nexus with sharpening help in their woodshop, and with setting up and running our AV system to record the MN quarterly members meetings. Thanks again Mark for continually chipping in!

October Wood Event

A big thanks goes out to Dennis for hosting a wood event on October 7th. We had wood, tools, a demo, and lunch! What more could a turner ask for? Just one of the many reasons to be a part of the club. Thanks to all who helped make it happen, and thanks to Angela for the pictures.

Chipping In: Angela Gunn

Angela Gunn has received our inaugural Chipping In award for her quick willingness to help out in several important roles over the last few years. She stepped in to be the SVW photographer when our cameraman moved away, and she has been the club’s WIT liaison, representing us with the AAW’s important Women In Turning program. She frequently participates in the president's challenges, often comments on her woodturning experiences, and shares her joy at what she has learned lately. Also, on her own initiative Angela developed the wood and grit ID guessing game as a table icebreaker at our holiday party.  She found and brought all the wood, and sandpaper samples (and the prizes). Angela can often be found in the front row at meetings helping us stay focused and on track, and at our other events with camera in hand, documenting our wood, turning, learning, and sharing. Thanks Angela for always ‘Chipping In’ as a participant in the club!
